10:00 am PLAYER'S MEETING 10:30 am SHOT GUN START Come join us on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Alta Vista Golf Ranch in Victor, Colorado for the Double Down for the Byway disc golf tournament! This doubles tournament will have a shotgun start and take place on an 18-hole course at 9,400 feet altitude. Participants can look forward to a closest-to-the-hole prize on hole 16 and the opportunity to win amazing door prizes. Lunch will be available on site. The Mount Pisgah Hoax
Before Bob Womack's legitimate discovery, the Cripple Creek area was tainted by the Mount Pisgah hoax of 1884. Swindlers "salted" worthless rock with gold to attract investors, and when the fraud was exposed, prospectors avoided the area for years—nearly preventing the real gold rush.
First Fossil Butterfly in America
Charlotte Hill discovered the first fossil butterfly ever found in America at Florissant in the 1870s. The specimen was later described by renowned paleontologist Samuel H. Scudder and helped establish Florissant's reputation as a world-class fossil site.
