At the Gold Belt Tour Scenic and Historic Byway Association, we're dedicated to protecting and sharing one of Colorado's most remarkable treasures - a 131-mile journey through the heart of America's greatest gold rush. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we work tirelessly to preserve the rural lifestyle, natural environment, and rich cultural heritage along this historic route. But we can't do it alone.
Your contribution directly supports conservation projects, educational programs, and the preservation of historic sites along the byway. From maintaining scenic vistas to creating educational signage, every dollar helps protect this unique piece of American history.

Ancient Redwood Giants
Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument contains petrified redwood stumps up to 14 feet wide that are 34 million years old. These trees were estimated to be over 230 feet tall and between 500 to 750 years old when volcanic mudflows buried them. The monument also contains the world's only known petrified redwood trio, three interconnected trunks that grew as one plant.
Elevation Gain of 4,000 Feet
Phantom Canyon Road climbs from 5,500 feet at its southern end near Florence to 9,500 feet at Victor—a gain of 4,000 feet over approximately 30 miles. This dramatic elevation change allows travelers to experience multiple ecosystems, from high desert to subalpine forest.
